What Engine Is Really In Dubai's Bullshit 5,000 Horsepower Hypercar?

The people behind the absurd Devel Sixteen say it has a 5,000 horsepower V16 engine fitted behind the driver, making it easily the fastest production car in the world. I'll believe that when my shit turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe the Dubai-built car, which looks like a well-done Super Replicas knockoff of a Ferrari Enzo, really does have five times as much power as a Bugatti Veyron and a top speed 348 mph for the relative bargain price of $1 million. But I'm thinking it doesn't.

Most other auto news sites have been skeptical too, like Spanish-language site Motorpasión (love that name, guys!), who found a video that reveals what the Sixteen's engine sounds like. It's ferocious, that's for sure, but I don't think it sounds like a V16.

Here's another video of that sound. It's good, right? But it sounds more like an American V8 of some sort. Ford Modular V8? LS-something?

I thought I'd put the question before you fine folks. What engine do you think is really in the Devel Sixteen? Feel free to share your theories here.

And if it really does have a 5,000 horsepower V16, and Devel can send us proof of that, then I owe them a pizza.
