I think everyone goes through a "I want to own a giant, V8-powered RWD American classic" phase. Mine was in high school. For some reason I knew, just knew, I had to have either a Galaxie 500 convertible or a Fairline 500 hardtop coupe with a 390 V8. It didn't happen, but I still pine for those cars.

This particular Fairlane 500 belongs to Jamie Noel's brother, and he was kind enough to pass on this photo he took while hanging out of the passenger-side window.

The 1600-px version is here and the giganto-desktop version is on our Facebook page (no, you don't have to "like" our Facebook page or even sign in to the service. It's right there in the "photos" section on the left).

Come on, a hardtop coupe? Any old every-man can pull off rolling some sort of Fairlane coupe. For some real-deal, ballsy hot rodding how about a customized 1966 Fairlane 500 sedan? Yea, it has some extra doors, but I don't mind, and the warmed over 289 backed up by a Tremec 5-speed and a 3.55 Trac-Lok doesn't blink at a couple of extra door handles either.
