Your Favorite Thing To Do With A Car

Few things are better than having something you love in your garage. But what’s your favorite thing to do with it?

Fine, I’ll start. I enjoy track time as much as the next guy, but my favorite thing is when I get a good car — preferably a small, light sports car with a decent manual gearbox — on a long, winding country back road. My favorite playlists on the stereo, nowhere else to be for the day except behind the wheel. Nothing beats that in my book. It’s automotive therapy.

But everyone’s different. Some car folks aren’t alive unless they’re wringing something out on the track at 10/10ths, which I can certainly understand. Others just love to cruise around and show off in classic Chevy or brand-new Lambo. Not my thing, but if that’s what floats your boat, go for it.

And some of us would rather be in the garage, tinkering under the hood or turning a wrench underneath. I like doing that too, but I’m not great at it, and it’s always just a means to an end: getting back to the drive.
