Like most people, I have about $120,000 in cold, hard cash that's just burning a hole in my pocket right now, and I can't decide which exotic car to spend it on. Luckily for me — and possibly someone else — an eBay listing for four rare 1980s Shelby-branded Dodges has come to my rescue!
Up for grabs on eBay right now is a lot that contains a black 1987 Shelby CSX, a red 1989 Shelby CSX, a red 1987 Shelby Lancer, and a 1989 Shelby Dakota pickup truck. Four cars! All Shelbys! One of them is even a truck, ensuring all your vehicular needs are met!
And here's the best part: all of them have just 25 miles on them. Jiminy Christmas!
Before he returned to Ford-related projects, Carroll Shelby cranked out (or at least lent his name to) a number of tuner-special Dodges at the behest of his pal Lee Iacocca in the 1980s. With delicious turbo power, or V8 power in the case of the Dakota, all of them were potent performance cars in their time and are not especially common today.
The seller claims all cars were purchased from a dealer who had an agreement to get the first Shelby Dodges available to the public, and each has been kept in a temperature-controlled dry storage unit since the days when we were still at war with godless Communism.
The downside to the listing is that there's no vehicle history for each one, and the pictures are tiny and terrible, perhaps because the seller doesn't actually want to unload them. But it's an interesting deal. All of those cars are collectable, maybe, and in great shape, but I'm not convinced $120,000 is a fair price for the lot.
I'm sure some hardcore Shelby or Mopar person would be happy to snatch them up. Any takers?
