The Indianapolis Brickyard looked more like a Cape Cod go-kart track in October than the site of the North American Grand Prix. With most of the field, 14 drivers in all, boycotting the race after a dispute between Michelin and the FIA, fans threw bottles and trash on the track, or left entirely, in protest. Michael Schumacher went on to win, to the boos of spectators. Oh yeah, F1 has a future in America.
