Yo, Johnny, Make a Left at the Wall: Nascar Comes to NYC

The news is out: New Yorkers may soon host their very own Nascar events. In what may be the most expensive land grab in the history of Staten Island (the one part of the city that sleeps), motorsports developer International Speedway Corp. recently paid $100 million to buy nearly 450 acres of land on which to build a proposed oval track. The site includes a former oil tank field in Bloomfield, on the island's West Shore, plus an adjacent 236-acre parcel yet to be purchased. Proposed course names include the "Fuckin-A 500," the "How About I Crack Your Friggin' Skull 400," and the "Trump 500 at Donald Trump International Raceway."
