There’s many kinds of great racing in this world. Racing of beauty, racing of grace. But very rarely is there racing where the pit crew kicks out the windshield completely, the car drives away, the hood flips up, and the driver can’t see anything at all so he does the whole lap hanging ass-out the door.
Oh, and it’s at Le Mans.
The Haberthur Racing Porsche 911 GT3-R of Gabrio Rosa, Michel Ligonnet, and Fabio Babini actually managed to get all the way around the track like that, and in the meantime, discover a whole new way to race.
I’m pretty sure the car won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2000 driving the whole way like this. Don’t look it up. Just trust me on this one. They definitely, definitely, didn’t end up taping up the hood and then not finishing anyways.
Definitely not.
