Would You Buy America's Civic Type-R Coupe If It Looked Like This?

Honda dropped a major bomb on the world by announcing that finally, finally, America will get the Civic Type-R. But we won’t get the neat hatchback the Europeans get — we’re getting our own version based on the new global Civic. If it looked like this, would you go for it?

This rendering comes to us from the folks at CivicX.com via the digital artists at Wild Speed. It takes the Civic concept from the New York Auto Show — already a pretty good-looking coupe — and makes it even wilder, putting it in proper Championship White coloring with red accents.

The aero kit is super-aggressive, as are the wheels, and the light bars around the wing echo the Civic Type-R hatchback concept. Those lights didn’t make it to the production car, but it would be sick to see them for real.

There’s no word yet on any of the stats for the upcoming American Type-R, but we expect it will keep the recently-unveiled Euro car’s 2.0-liter turbo VTEC four with at least 300 horsepower. I’d guess it will stay front-wheel drive as well.

I do like this design, and I’m just excited we’re finally getting the Type-R, no matter how it will look. What do you say?
