Will The New Porsche 911 GT2 RS Have A Manual Or Not?

Last month, we ran a photo of a GT2 RS mule testing at the Nürburgring. Fat tires, yellow brakes, vast wing—it couldn’t have been anything else. We wondered whether or not it would have a manual gearbox to boot.

Here’s as video released today of the 991 GT2 RS mule. The flat-six is throaty and raspy and all kinds of great, but if you listen closely, that sure sounds like a PDK gearbox doing the work. That, or the driver is the fastest shifter in the entire world.

So, theoretically speaking, say the new GT2 RS only comes with the PDK. The 911 purists will demand a three-pedal version. Porsche says okay, and then makes an extremely limited edition, purist-focused GT2 RS model with a stick shift and charges a bajillion dollars for it.

I’m not saying that that’s for sure going to happen. But I also wouldn’t put it past Porsche. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
