For those following the secretive "Project 1221," the brainchild of former Ferrari engineer, Mauro Forghieri, the slow seep of information has been far below the realm of attention grabbing. Now, Italiaspeed is reporting the final supercar product, known as MF1, will achieve its seemingly impossible 1:1 power-to-weight ratio through the use of a gas turbine engine. Once only the domain of modernist race-car builders, 1960s concept-car designers and the original Batmobile, gas turbine engines, er, kind of still are. The prospect of a new, turbine-powered supercar would make all the project's weird, hype-antihype worthwhile.
