Not too long ago, cars were the official (consumer) objects of desire for teenagers. Now, according to research firm Gartner, it's smartphones. Carmakers may be trying to adapt to this; we want to show how it's wrong. In what ways is having a car better than having a smartphone?
First and foremost: A good car is about going places. Pictures of Highway One in California may be pretty even if they're shrunk down to iPhone size, but nothing compares with being there and seeing the mountains and smelling the ocean and working your way through that epic series of curves. You can use a phone to book a flight and rent a car, but you'll never understand it until you're there.
