When Rust Attacks, BRAT Edition

Upon moving to California from back east so many years ago we noticed that it wasn't really at all like Repo Man, and that the cars didn't have any rust. Not even old ones like a '64 Chevy Malibu. With all the recent grumbling about the cold snap in the Arnoldfornia we thought it time to revisit the horrors of road salt induced body rot. This example of the slow power of oxidation isn't the worst we had ever seen, but it is a Subaru Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter - or BRAT. This one a 1981 model. Denizens of the rust belt may find amusement in the creative use of pop rivets. Springtime in Vermont means discovering the only thing holding that old bucket together was ice.
