The bankruptcy of a company that supplies GM with polished chrome wheels for the Chevrolet Corvette is causing widespread production disruption, AutoWeek is reporting. Dealers have been informed that wheel supply could cause delays in the shipment of some customers' vehicles. The optional polished wheels, including the ten-spoke chrome numbers pictured — offered on the Z06 — are supplied by Amcast, which went bankrupt in early December. All orders scheduled to be built after Jan. 3 will get silver painted wheels (and an MSRP reduction). The chrome wheel option will likely return sometime in mid 2006.
