When your chairman is named Lord James of Blackheath, you'd expect the result to be Arthurian in proportion. Actually, it's smaller than one of Guenevere's bustles. In fact, Project Kimber, the consortium planning to bring back the erstwhile Smart roadster under the venerable AC name (think: pre-Shelby Cobra), has released a new sketch of the UK-built car it expects to have to market sometime next year. It's the latest rebody job on the Smart to be created by a team consisting of ex-McLaren designer Gordon Murray. Lord James says the plan is behind schedule, and that a number of significant investors have yet to commit (uh oh), but that rights to the roadster and necessary tooling equipment have been negotiated. No word on how well they're getting along with the lot at AC Cars.
