We travel over them every day, but although they're built using similar principles, some bridges are just freaking scarier than others. Ridiculously high? Rickety-looking? No guardrails? Suspended with sketchy rope? What's the scariest highway bridge in the world?
Oh, the Chinese and their show-offy transportation infrastructure. The Balinghe Bridge, which opened to traffic in 2009, spans the Baling River Valley, carrying expressway traffic between Kunming and Guiyang. But while it's been said to have reduced travel time across the valley from one hour to four minutes, drivers would do well not to consider how freaking high above the valley their asses are hovering. At its highest point, the damn roadway is more than 1,200 feet high.
