What's The Greatest Thing Powered By A Jet Engine That Isn't Aircraft?

Jet engines sure are neat! They power all sorts of things, mainly planes and helicopters. But what about things that aren’t planes or helicopters? Let’s talk about those for a hot minute.

Me, I’m a huge fan of what the maniacs behind the open source Bloodhound SSC project are trying to do. Powered by the engine from a Eurofighter Typhoon, they’re aiming to make a land-going car that can reach an unfathomable 1,000 mph.

Nobody has ever topped the Thrust SSC’s 1997 record of 763 mph, but I think it’s high time that changes. Maybe it will someday.

What would you say is the greatest thing powered by a jet engine that doesn’t fly?
