For a gearhead, the garage is the most important room in the house. And it's not the shape or the size that makes the garage. It's the contents. What's in your perfect garage?
My current garage is small, with barely enough room to change a tire, let alone take care of my long-term projects. Were I somehow able to extend the height of my house without any sort of municipal red tape disaster, I'd totally add a lift or a trench. As much as I'd like lateral space, little makes up for the addition of vertical movement. I imagine throwing up a press car just to get a closer look, setting up chair underneath it and just marveling at modern automotive accomplishments.
