Whether by chance or will, many of us are going to/do have children. If they're our kids, they're going to like cars. What kind of car geek do you want your offspring to be?
I want the best for my potential progeny, which is to say I'm not sure I definitely want someone exactly in my image. Should they like old Fiats and RWD Volvos? I hope so. But I'd like a kid interested in other cars. Ideally, it would be nice if, when the kid was in his/her teens they were interested in the cars I'm familiar with now. How weird and awesome would it be to have a child come up to you and ask "Hey, Dad, do you remember the 2008 Pontiac G8 GXP?" or exclaim "Dude, what's a Phaeton!?!" I could talk about the time I drove the Audi R8 TDI prototype or piloted a RENNtech Mercedes around Miami and they'd be impressed and ask questions. They'd get a "beater" 370Z for $2,000 (non-inflation adjusted) and park it in our hover garage. Good times.
