Even in non car movies, cars can end up being a pretty essential part of the plot. While we know and love a lot of these cars this weekend we are more concerned with the less memorable automotive movie appearances. What is your favorite obscure car appearance in a non car movie?
It was 25 years ago today "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" was released in the US. Although it is hardly a car movie, the "1961 Ferrari 250 GT California" featured and subsequently destroyed played a pretty significant role in the movie. We love Ferris Bueller and the Ferrari's appearance but we wanted to get a little bit more obscure for this week's QOTW.
We want to know about your favorite obscure automotive movie moment. It could be a car that only gets a few seconds of screen time or even a vehicle sitting in the background that has always caught your eye. It might be a briefly driven vehicle or a significant automotive appearance that is often forgotten about. Everyone knows James Bond's Aston Martin DB5, Doc Brown's DeLorean and the Ferris Bueller Ferrari. While all of these cars are very cool, we want to hear about the lesser known and often forgotten on screen automotive appearances.
My favorite obscure car appearance in a non car movie is the 1960 Autobianchi Bianchina Cabriolet that appears in The Pink Panther (1963). It leads to one of my favorite car chases ever made and it's driven by a guy in a Gorilla suit. Sure it shares screentime with a beautiful 1960 Ferrari 250 GT, but for this QOTW I feel obligated to pick the weirder choice—the pink convertible Autobianchi it is.
We forced ourselves to pick from the endless possible answers to this question, now it is your turn. What is your favorite obscure car appearance in a non car movie?
