Even though the first day of summer is still several weeks away warm temperatures combined with Memorial day weekend have us with summer on the brain. This weekend we want to know what you think is the ideal vehicle for warm weather cruising. What is the perfect summer car?
To me the perfect summer car is actually a summer truck, more specifically the International Scout. Although I'm partial to my own '67 800, it is hard to go wrong with any Scout on a sunny day. Removable hardtops and four wheel drive make the Scout a perfect summer beach cruiser for those with a love of the unusual.
There are a variety of interesting and cool vintage SUVs with removable tops and four wheel drive, but to me none are quite as fun to drive, functional, quirky and indestructible as the Scout. Although single digit gas mileage is a little tough to swallow and finding a rust free Scout is easier said than done (we didn't say they were perfect), I can't imagine anything I'd rather be driving on a sunny summer day.
