Front wheel drive cars are known for a lot of things, but being fun to drive is not one of them. Most car lovers will agree the FWD configuration can't compete with a RWD or AWD car when it comes to driving enjoyment. Having said that, this weekend we want to know what vehicle can provide the most automotive amusement even though it delivers power to the front wheels? What front wheel drive car is the most fun to drive?
My initial impulse is to pick the Cord 810, because it is hands down the coolest FWD vehicle ever built, but it seems unfair considering I've never driven one. My choice then has to be the first generation Volkswagen GTI. One of the few highlights in the world of FWD drive cars, the original GTI is fun to drive and the styling has aged surprisingly well. It makes sense from a driving perspective that nice examples of early GTIs are rising in value.
