This is Norman Dewis. Norman Dewis was the chief test driver and development engineer for Jaguar from 1952 to 1985. He played a key role in developing more than two dozen of Jaguar’s most famous vehicles. In short, Norman Dewis has had a more amazing life than most people ever will.
Dewis, who will celebrate his 95th birthday in a few months, is here to regale us with the stories of how he became a test driver, what it was like to race at Le Mans during the race’s golden years, and what it’s like to be considered a living legend in the latest XCAR video.
It’s a long feature but it’s one of their best yet. Settle in, kick back, and get ready to hang out with a man who didn’t just witness motorsports history, but wrote it.
