Sure, whales aren't totally uncommon in the waters surrounding Alaska, but you don't expect one to pop up in your landing path.
I'm not sure what's more impressive: The fact that the pilot was able to see the whale spouting water into the air or his quick reaction to throttle up. Regardless, our deepwater friend lives to see another day.
