Watch This Jet Suck A Safety Pylon Into Its Engine

A few seconds into this video, we see an absent-minded ramp agent appear from the right side of the screen and place a safety pylon on front of the number one engine of an American Eagle Embraer 170 regional jet.

Unfortunately, the video doesn't say when or where this happened, but we'll pass along the information as we learn it. What is certain is that the pylon definitely would have caused a lot of damage to the engine.

Update - a reader has informed me that this happened at Chicago O'Hare Airport (ORD). The engine sustained no major damage.

This was at ORD and not the first time these rampers have done this to our new ERJ175s […]. This particular aircraft was boroscoped and believe it or not no serious damage was done...although the fan blades look like a child went to town on them with a sharpie.
