Rally driver Hayden Paddon and co-driver John Kennard didn’t just win the season opener of the New Zealand Rally Championship in their Hyundai i20, they beat the course record by ten seconds.

The Hyundai i20 rally car beat the existing record of 7.34.1 by 10 seconds in its debut rally in the final stage of the Rally Otago, which is Round 1 of the 2016 New Zealand Rally Championship. Not a bad debut for the car, but I can’t imagine how fast the driving team had to push it to manage a 10 second pillow between their time and the previous record.
