Greece beat the Ivory Coast in a World Cup footie match yesterday, which meant that some celebrations were in order in the neighborhood of Astoria, Queens. And in this case, "celebrations" means heaping amounts of tire smoke pouring forth from wheelarches.

And if you're wondering why a neighborhood in Queens is going nuts over a random World Cup match, and you don't remember anybody celebrating like this when the USA beat Ghana, that's because Astoria is a heavily Greek/Egyptian/Hipster ethnic community, and because everyone already knows that the USA is going to win everything, U-S-A, U-S-A.

The Greek win was a pretty nice surprise, considering that they'd already lost to Colombia 3-0, and drew with Japan 0-0. Congratulations to Greece.
