Sportscar365 caught some extra footage of Nissan's Le Mans race car at Circuit of the Americas that didn't all make it into the Super Bowl commercial yesterday. Here's that LMP1 in action. Enjoy.
Not all of it has sound, but the combination of popping, gurgling and electrical whirring when sound was captured is a marvelous noise to behold. Why can't F1's V6s sound this good?
It's interesting to watch this car make its way around the track. I never would have guessed in a million years that this car was primarily front-wheel-drive based on how it moves.
Also, here we learn that Nismo's people giggle when cars' tires make squeegee noises on those polished floors in Circuit of the Americas' garages, too. Anything you drive in there will inevitably sound like b-roll sound for Squidward's character on "SpongeBob SquarePants:" fact. It's impossible not to giggle at that.
This gives us a closer look at the classic cars that followed the LMP1 on track, too, such as the Momo-liveried NPT-90 IMSA GTP.
Best of all, there's lots of night shots in this reel. Is there anything prettier than the play of light against dark found in night racing shots? No? No.
