It's surprising how hard it can be to find a good piece of flat, well-kept asphalt suitable for a mile of open throttle. The Mojave Mile is just two years old, and already luring interesting machines, like a Powerstroke-driven Hudson pickup that can be driven by mouth.

This vid by Jason Lewis features the efforts of Randy Simmons, who wants to put quadriplegic veterans behind the wheel of a 947-hp diesel dragster, and Darryl Weflen's Yamaha-powered, nitrous-fueled gokart. One does better than the other, but there's a lot of promise in both.
