Volkswagen is launching its new CrossPolo at Germany's Essen Motor Show, that country's aftermarket love fest, next week. VW's outdoorsy version of the mini Polo (it has a tailgate) is the successor to the Polo Fun, a similar, limited-run model that succeeds the Polo Fun, which was introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt motor show. The model on display has raised running gear, 17" alloys, and other cosmetics deemed to indicate ruggedness. The CrossPolo heads to Germany in 2006 at a starting price of around $18,000, with a 1.2-liter 63hp engine. A mere canap to the CrossGolf expected to debut next year.
