As yet another link in the chain of synergy that is Volkswagen's media alliance with Universal Studios, VW is offering a limited-edition Touareg SUV in Europe with the same features as those SUVs used by crew members working on the upcoming movie "King Kong." The Kong Touaregs are fitted with silver cosmetics including 19-inch "Avignon" alloys, silver-colored front and rear underbody guards, silver roof bars, silver-look side-view-mirror housings and "King Kong" badging on the B-pillars.

On the inside, the package includes leather seats, "Engine Spin" design trimming, and a four-spoke steering wheel, plus a seven-inch headliner-mounted DVD monitor for rear-seat passengers. Special options include a back-up camera, variable anti-roll bars for greater traction and comfort off-road and bi-xenon headlights that bend light around corners. Buyers can choose from two gas engines, including a 3.2-liter six and 4.2-liter V8, and three diesels, including the V10 TDI, and four paint finishes. The Kong Touaregs start at the equivalent of around $57,000, though the company notes equipment package cost savings total nearly $5,000.
