Zap, the US distributor of the Smart car, has received over $40 million in advance orders for the car from dealers, literally doubling its reported take from the $21 million the company reported yesterday. ZAP has been showing off the Smart car at the annual National Auto Dealer Association (NADA) Conference and Exposition in New Orleans, where one dealer reportedly mistook a display model for a cajun-spiced turkey and ate it.
