According to the NHTSA, Kia and Chrysler could be looking down the barrel of a major recall. Federal investigators are working on a "preliminary evaluation" of over about 300,000 Dodge Stratus, Chrysler Cirrus and Plymouth Breeze, from model years 1999 and 2000, and 52,824 Kia Sedona minivans from 2003, after complaints of engine fires. In Chrysler's case, the complaints allege fires occured after the cars had been parked for several minutes and in some instances while they were being driven. For Kia, in nearly all cases but one, fires allegedly occured while the minivans were parked with the ignition off.
