After 60 years spent sitting a 1928 Mercedes-Benz 26/120/180 'S' Type Sports Tourer that has been in the same family since new will head to auction in September.
When they were new the supercharger equipped S series Mercedes were among the fastest cars in the world thanks to their 100mph top speed. Any S series is valuable and sought after, but the story of this particular car will likely make it even more appealing to buyers when it crosses the auction block at Bonhams' Goodwood Revival sale on September 15.
Even though it was last used in the 1950s, this recently discovered vintage Mercedes runs as it should. The car is completely original and unrestored. Combined with the fact the car has been in the same family since new, we'd say the car will likely command a price quite a bit higher than the £1.5m ($2.34m) figure mentioned in Bonhams' press release announcing the sale.
