We know it won't be long until we start seeing Matt Turner's latest car-iPod invention installed at the local "Sound Illusions" (insert the over-the-top name of your town's car audio joint here). Matt created a direct drop-in iPod docking solution that uses a car's untapped ashtray space (yet another reason to get the patch). The BMW E46 version (shown) requires no permanent modifications, and the factory ashtray door closes over the dock when the iPod's undocked. Apart from the E46 version, the solution will soon be available for 1999.5-2005 Volkswagen Golf, GTi, Jetta, GLi and R32, and units for BMW 5-series E39 (1996-2004), BMW Z4 and 2005 VW Jetta and Golf are in the works.
