A little inside baseball: I just wrote up a Traffic Jam for Chappel Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova.” Let’s be honest though, people. Very few of us are feeling Chappel Roan right now. I’d wager many more of us are feeling Godspeed You! Black Emperor. “The Dead Flag Blues” are a bit more topical towards life today:
The car’s on fire and there’s no driver at the wheel
And the sewers are all muddied with a thousand lonely suicides
And a dark wind blowsThe government is corrupt
And we’re on so many drugs
With the radio on and the curtains drawnWe’re trapped in the belly of this horrible machine
And the machine is bleeding to death
If that ain’t a mood. Have fun listening.
