Traffic Jams Cost Americans Billions

An annual study by the Texas Transportation Institute (hmmm, that sounds like a front for something) found Americans lose $63 billion a year in wasted fuel and delays due to traffic jams. What's more, the annual delay per rush-hour traveler increased to 47 hours, from 16 hours in 1982. Surprisingly, and despite a preponderance of residents' bitching, our fair New York didn't even make the worst-traffic list, which is topped by Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, Atlanta and Houston.
