It goes without saying that having a river of kerosene across the track is not conducive to safe driving, so before the race could finally finish its epic run to its nail-biting finish that part of the track had to be well-scrubbed. Enter several large boxes of the Proctor & Gamble laundry powder, which effectively dissipated the jet fuel and got the surface back to safe condition.
Everyone with greasy post-oil-change hands just took note.
