The reason why this barn-find Jaaaag E-Type made three times its pre-sale estimate is that it's a 1961 "Flat Floor", one of the last unrestored examples.
A few weeks ago Petrolicious had a great movie about one of the last E-Types ever made, but this 3.8-liter roadster is from the other end of the scale: It was the sixtieth to leave the production line. Jaaaag lovers call these early cars the "Flat Floor" E-Types due to the lack of a dropped floor area that increased the leg room and was added in subsequent cars.
With only 65,000 miles on the clock, it sat in a garage for thirty years before reappearing at Bonhams’ RAF Museum auction last week. Now it's in the hands of Classic Motor Cars of Bridgenorth who will do a full nut and bolt restoration on chassis nr. 60.
The price will go higher the moment that straight-six comes alive.
