This Mitsubishi 3000GT Does Not Make A Convincing Ferrari F430

I love Ferraris. And I also love DSMs, especially the 3000GT, that under-appreciated beast of a car that was king of all the Mitsu-Chrysler collaborations back in the 90s. So it follows that if you put the two together somehow, the end product will be amazing, right?

No, of course it doesn't. And if more proof of this is needed beyond simple common sense, take a look at this recent eBay auction for a Fauxrarri F430 built from a 3000GT donor car.

I have to admit, I have kind of a weird obsession with Fauxrarris. I would never buy one, but I kind of appreciate the gall it takes to make an MR2 or a Fiero look even close to something that came from Maranello. This one, however, is such a miss it's not even in the ballpark.

Oh well, at least the 3000GT offered respectable performance in its day, thanks to a twin-turbo V6 engine and all-wheel-drive, so this should be pretty fun to hoon around in, right? Wait, no. The donor car had the base, NA V6 engine with front-wheel-drive.

That's right — you're looking at quite possibly the only car with Ferrari badges on earth with power going to the front wheels. Ouch.

"This car is so much fun to drive," the seller says. Let me add this: "You may get your ass kicked if the wrong person sees you in it, but it's fun to drive."

Buy it now for the low, low price of $14,495. Any takers?
