These Are The Coolest Cars From The Goodwood Festival Of Speed
From race team trucks to mind-bending hypercars, these are some of the slickest machines that were on display at the 2024 Goodwood Festival Of Speed
The Goodwood Festival of Speed rolled around this weekend, bringing its blend of music festival, motor show and race meet to the South of England once again. The weekend was full of new car launches, dynamic debuts and runs up the iconic hill climb course from some of the most famous cars in motorsport history. It was a great weekend packed with awesome cars, were you there?
If not, never fear as Jalopnik was on the ground at Goodwood rooting out some of the coolest cars you could find at the festival. From gleaming concept cars to stunning race trucks, the festival delivered some wonderful machines over the four days of festivities.
So click through the following slides to see some of the most unbelievable machines that we uncovered on our frantic weekend spent running around the Goodwood estate.
Mercedes Racer
My Goodwood weekend started in the paddock, where this trio of vintage racers instantly caught my eye. The Mercedes-Benz W125 up front looked excellent in the rare British sun, and was surrounded by race fans explaining to one another why Mercedes is known as the Silver Arrows.
Bugatti Bolide
If you wanted bonkers hypercars, Bugatti had you covered at Goodwood this year. As well as showing off its wild new Tourbillon model at the festival, the French automaker also sent its Bolide racer up the hill, ensconced in this lovely new blue finish.
Polestar Concept BST
After showing off its new Polestar 6 roadster on the hillclimb at Goodwood, the Swedish brand had another trick up its sleeve in the Polestar BST Concept. Following the Polestar 2 BST, this new EV adds some race-ready anger to the usually understated Swedish design of Polestar. What do you think?
Old Alpine
Alpine had some great cars on its Goodwood stand this year, including all manner of A110s, the new electric hot hatch from the French brand and a slew of Formula 1 cars. This vintage A110 really stood out to me though, just look at it!
Ford Capri
Sure, Ford's new Capri concept might have grabbed most of the limelight this weekend, but it wasn't the only Capri on display at Goodwood. Tucked about as far from Ford's new concept as you could get was this wonderful Capri race car.
Yangwang U9
Goodwoood isn't just about legacy automakers, though, and Chinese automaker Yangwang was on hand to prove just that. On its stand, the company had the U9 supercar concept front and center, with the car even performing a weird dance routine where it shook its corners up and down.
Ferrari 312 T2
Everyone's got their favorite Ferraro Formula 1 car from history, whether it's the F2004 that Michael Schumacher raced or this stunner that was piloted by Niki Lauda. The car in question is the 312 T2, and it was run by the Scuderia in 1976.
Ferrari Truck
If you have an awesome Ferrari racer like the 312 T2, then you need an awesome truck to transport it around in, right? Enter this wonderful Ferrari-branded mechanics truck that was stationed in the paddock during the Goodwood festival. I love it with all my heart.
MG Concept
Whether you think it has a dumb name or not, there are few who would argue that this isn't a good looking EV. Based on the Cyberster, this is the new Cyber GTS Concept from MG and it look great. MG doesn't have plans to put the car into production just yet, but says it's using the Goodwood showcase as a chance to gauge consumer interest.
Volvo Bike Truck
What's better than a race-ready Volvo 850 wagon? A race-ready Volvo 850 wagon festooned with bikes, of course. This particular wagon was stationed with German bike builder Canyon, where it was showcasing its range of slippery, aerodynamic road machines.
Blue Wonder
This is slick, really slick. Called Blue Wonder, the Mercedes low-loader was on display in the Goodwood paddock before taking to the hill over the weekend, where it ran the course with a pristine W 196 R perched on the bed. Stunning scenes.
Honda NSX
It's on UK soil so it's a Honda NSX, not an Acura NSX. Sadly, the NSX seemed a little forgotten on the Honda stand this year, and was tucked around the back out of site and out of mind.
RB17
Red Bull took the Aston Martin Valkyrie and made it a little bit uglier in every way with the RB17 hypercar. Still, it's cool that the company has gone from Formula 1 sponsor to supercar maker in less than 30 years.
Audi Quattro
What's the collective noun for Audi race cars? An awesome of Audis, perhaps? Whatever you decide, there's no denying that this brace of race-ready Audi Quattros is a site to behold.
