In 1957, a group of prominent Tulsans enlisted the help of Chrysler's Plymouth division and buried a '57 Belvedere under the courthouse lawn. Part of Tulsarama, celebrating the city's golden jubilee, the Plymouth was picked as "a method of acquainting the citizens of the twenty first century with a suitable representation of 1957 civilization." The car will be unearthed on June 15th, 2007 and awarded to the person (or the heir of the person) who posited most correctly what the '07 population of the Oklahoma town would be. At the car's burial, Lewis Roberts, Jr. announced, "This is the sort of thing that could happen only in Tulsa." How true, Lewis. How true. [Thanks to Mike for the tip]
