Despite its late-model sports cars and a sturdy GT racing heritage, GM's Vauxhall division isn't known for the "world's fastest" anything. Then again, jamming an 11.5-liter big-block Chevrolet V8 into a car's engine compartment has a way of changing brand perceptions. This 1993 Vauxhall Calibra, equivalent to the Chevy Cavalier, recently returned to the UK after a trip to the States, during which it generated lots of smoke and brused American egos. Doing zero to sixty in 1.25 seconds, after driving to the track on public highways, tends to get that kind of response. [Thanks to Stephen for the tip.]
