I know the 1980s were confusing, but can anybody explain why a Toyota Corolla would set loose a bunch of white mustangs?

If you think I'm making this up, you're very wrong. The 1983 Toyota Corolla AE86, more precisely the 123 horsepower Corolla GT Coupe with it's 16-valve twin-cam engine was indeed advertised with this very image.

Was it that Toyota thought 123 horsepower is so much they could spare a few, or was it a strange fortune ritual using horses instead of pigeons?
