Shaquille O'Neal, who I believe is an Irish sporting icon, says that the scariest thing he ever did was try and become a race car driver. I thought it would be trying to shoot a free throw. Zing!

For his TV show Shaq Vs, O'Neal had to race NASCAR superultramegastar Dale Earnhardt, Jr. on track. He spent a lot of time with Dale, and, guess what? It's tough to drive a race car.

Had a chance to spend a couple of weeks with Dale Earnhardt Jr. – when I was doing ‘Shaq Vs.’ I raced him. Whoever said these guys aren’t athletes are out of their minds. That was the toughest three hours I’ve ever had in my life. I was fitted for a car, me and Dale raced 50 laps, and I slept for two days after that. I really did.

I've been saying that race car driving is a sport and they're real athletes for years. My friends basically call me a moron and then push me into a ditch. Let's see them try and say I'm wrong now that Shaq, aka Kazaam the rapping genie, has declared auto racing a sport.

Shaq is a man who played basketball for ages, a man who loves being paid to love Buicks, and aman who starred in his own videogame, the very popular Shaq Fu, saying what I've been saying for decades. This should add some credibility to my statements.

OK please don,t all rip on me for this one immediately. Here is what I don't understand.....F1 drivers, rally racers, almost any form of auto sport other then Nascar and some dirt track stuff..... I feel like the drivers are in very good physical shape.....but why in God's name are there still Nascar drivers with beer bellies racing these guys clearly would black out if they tried jogging a mile but somehow they are able to race in Nascar??? It makes no sense to me. How in the hell do you sit in a 120 degree sauna for hours and hours on end whilst doing physical labor like that and not loose your beer gut? Can someone explain this to me. Also just to clarify, I am not at all doubting the fact that race driving is physically strenuous in any way or that these guys are athletes. Just searching for an answer as to why some of these folks don't look like
