How much time could we sink into the "Old Car Manual Project" Web site if given unlimited access? Traditional "lifespan of a star" or "light-year" yardsticks might approach the mid-point, but ultimately, we're pretty sure we could outlast anything time-motion physics could throw at us and still not get through all the great stuff on the site. The site's curators have collected images scanned from literally hundreds of original owners' manuals and sales literature from American-made cars of the past 50 years. Where else could you discover exactly which colors of fine Corinthian leather were offered on the 1978 Chrysler Cordoba, or what the compression ratio of the 1950 Rambler's Flying Scot motor was, or which 1957 Chevy model was perfect for stock car racing? Damned if you didn't come to the right place. At the very least, you'd better pack a lunch.
