The Mercedes-AMG GT S is a different beast than the SLS AMG that came before it. It's smaller, nimbler, lithe-er, and fun-er. It's also less expensive-er, according to an internal dealer document that says it'll start at $129,900.
Of course, $129,900 is the base price for AMG's second fully in-house design. Option packages will easily push that up, though it'll be interesting to see if Mercedes goes the Porsche route of a la carte options that make you pay $30,000 more than list just to get options that were thought of as standard during feudal times.
For your $129,900, you are getting a great package to start adding on to. That includes the brand new 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 with 503 horsepower and 479 pound feet of torque.
When we drove it, we loved it. This price point is also great, though it is substantially more expensive than the F-Type R Coupe, which has similar power and style. It's actually one of the closest competitor for the GT.
Only time will tell if the extra sharpness of the GT makes it worth the extra money.
Hat Tip to Max!
