The official word about the Lamborghini Huracan is out now and, yes, that's really what it looks like. This is not a render, this is the wonderful reality. The Gallardo's new replacement is faster, more powerful, and the most modern car to roll out of Sant'Agata.
The Huracán might use a reworked version of the Gallardo's 5.2-liter V10, but tuned to now produce 610 horsepower and 414 ft-lbs. of torque – roughly 40 more horses than the most powerful Gallardo ever had. That means 0-100 km/h is quoted at 3.2 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the Gallardo LP 570-4 Supperleggera Edizione Tecnica.
Lamborghini is also touting its carbon-aluminum chassis for its weight savings and increased rigidity.
No, there isn't a manual. The LP610-4 configuration brings the V10's power to all four wheels through a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that's formally known as Lamborghini Doppia Frizione. You can abbreviate it LDF, but that sounds like some kind of disorder or Middle East Army of God. It's worth noting it's Lambo's first dual-clutch, since the Aventador's paddle-gearbox is a single clutch system.
Carbon ceramic brakes are standard, as is a stop-start system, but magnetic shocks and a variable steering system are new options.
Inside, there's a 12.3 TFT configurable instrument panel that's all the rage these days, so at least the Huracan is on par with the Cadillac XTS. And in an Audi-like move, the new Lambo uses only LEDs inside and out.
Expect the Huracán at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring, and for it to go on sale a few months after that.
