The Jeep Crew Chief Looks Like The Retro Jeep Truck Of Your Most Rugged Dreams

The Jeep Crew Chief will be one of seven crazy concepts the company trots out at the annual Easter Jeep Safari this month, and it looks like an awesome adaptation of the original Cherokee Chief design dumped on a new Wrangler chassis.

Earlier we saw the first glipse of the “so 2016" Jeep Wrangler Trailcat, but this year’s batch of Jeep concepts isn’t about to ignore the retro fans.

The 1970s Cherokee Chief is one of the only Jeeps to be considered “classic” without a seven-slat grille. And after getting such positive responses from fans on the NuKizer and more recent Jeep Chief, I think it’s pretty awesome that they’re doing another modernization for us this year.

No details yet beyond this teaser image, but based on this and the name “Crew” I’m guessing this will be a four-door pickup variant of the Wrangler with an early J-style face.

Easter Jeep Safari is an annual social gathering for Jeep nuts in “America’s rock-crawling capital” Moab, Utah. 2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the event and the 75th anniversary of the Jeep brand as we know it, so I’ve got a feeling this will be a good year to go.

The whole thing goes down between March 19th and 27th, but the whole fleet of seven Jeep concepts should be unveiled by the 21st.

We’ll find out more in the coming weeks!
