It’s the greatest day of the year! The third annual Jalopnik Film Festival presented by Mazda starts today with a party and screening and continues through Saturday with a full day of screenings. Here’s everything you need to know if you’re going to either or, hopefully, both.

We’ve moved this year’s festival to sunny (and warm) Southern California and have planned 48 hours of pure car bliss, starting this afternoon with Mazda Miata ride-and-drives at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica followed by a screening of Adam Carolla’s Winning: The Racing Life Of Paul Newman at 7:00 PM and a Q&A with Carolla and Matt Farah and then a party with DJ Tay James.

Passes to the ride-and-drive are all claimed, but you can still RSVP to the party here and still buy tickets for the event on Saturday here. If you buy a VIP ticket you get special perks on Friday and Saturday.

Here’s how the next two days are going.

Friday (Today): Crazy Airport Party At Barker Hangar

What: We’re taking over Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hanger to show Adam Carolla’s Winning: The Racing Life Of Paul Newman and this party has everything: Concept cars, race cars, vintage cars, simulators, Jason Torchinsky, and a ton of Mazda Miatas. There’s going to be food trucks and a bar (cash bar for GA and open bar for VIPs). We’re also going to have Blinker Fluid, the signature Jalopnik drink. YOU NEED TO RSVP IF YOU ARE COMING.

Where To Park: If you’re driving a Mazda product you can park in the lot next to Barker Hangar, for everyone else you should have received an email with a general admission parking pass and can park in one of these lots:

Food And Drink: If you’re an invited VIP or you bought a VIP pass your food and drink will be provided in the VIP lounge near the screen. For everyone else, we still love you and there’s a cash bar and four (FOUR!) food trucks to serve you a variety of delicious eats.

Schedule: If you’re not doing a Ride-and-Drive there’s still stuff to do and I recommend getting there as early as you can to check everything out and get a good seat.

3:00 PM to 7:00 PM: Miata Ride-and-Drives continue

7:00 PM: Winning: The Racing Life Of Paul Newman

Saturday (September, 26th): Screening At Ace Hotel

We’ll be showing a ton of films at the beautiful Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. There will also be special cars if you missed them on Friday.

This is the climax of the Film Festival weekend and a chance to see a bunch of films together that have never been shown at the same place (tickets on sale here).

What: 21 films in one afternoon, including the Jalopnik Film Festival short contest jury selections and old films like Mad Max and new films like Steve McQueen: The Man and Le Mans. VIP tickets are $75 and regular tickets are $25 and both are on sale here. There are also two awesome panels.

Where: The Theater at the Ace Hotel in Downtown L.A. 929 S Broadway - LA, CA 90015.

Where To Park: There’s parking available in lots around the theater.

Food And Drink: There’s going to be a food truck (at 953 S Broadway down the street from the theater) as well as general cinema fare (candy, popcorn, soda). If you’re VIP you get a free soda and popcorn as well as a ticket for the food truck. General admission can buy whatever they want.

Schedule:

Once again, to see all of these films you need to buy a ticket, but one ticket gets you into all of the films. Also, there are going to be some small gaps in between the screenings so you can stretch your legs, get food, et cetera.
