What's the problem with cars today? According to International Harvester in 1980, the problem was the ordinary car, expressed through some excellent Malaise era frustration. The solution? Why, the International Scout of course.

Something is a little hard to believe about a car company pushing their warranty in the last year they produced road going vehicles. I love Internationals as much as the next guy and I don't doubt for a second the 100,000 miles on the engine part of the warranty.


Years of Scout ownership does makes me think that more than a few unfortunate souls brought back their Scout to cash in on the five year rust through part of the warranty only to find their local IH dealership had closed. This video has everything I look for in a car commercial; consumer unrest, brand new Scouts, questionable claims, and late 70s junkyards.
